Draft Everywhere — raw draft alongside a platform-adapted article
00The Result, First

What shipped

One draft becomes many — while the writer keeps the final say.

Draft Everywhere generates versions shaped for each platform’s structure, length, readability, and tone. Every result stays editable, so AI accelerates the first pass without deciding what gets published.

The public V1 is free to try. The full project is also available as open-source code.

01The Problem

Why this exists

The writing was finished.
The repetitive work had only started.

One idea often needed to become a LinkedIn post, a Substack article, a Note, an X thread, a Medium story, a portfolio update, and a business website update. Each platform expected a different structure, length, and writing style.

The recurring loop was always the same: copy the text into ChatGPT, explain the platform, copy it back, adjust the formatting and hashtags, then repeat. More time went into moving content around than creating it.

The writing itself wasn’t the hardest part anymore.
The repetitive work afterward was. — The problem behind Draft Everywhere
02Product Direction

Principles

Make AI assistance accessible — and keep the creator in control.

Many useful open-source AI tools still require people to clone a repository, install dependencies, configure API keys, or run code locally. Draft Everywhere was designed around a simpler promise: open a website, start writing, and use AI only where it reduces mechanical work.

01

Start immediately

No technical setup between the writer and the first draft.

02

Adapt with context

Each output follows the conventions of its destination platform.

03

Keep everything editable

Generation begins the work. The creator reviews, changes, and publishes.

03The Workflow

Core experience

A short path from raw thinking to ready-to-edit drafts.

The interface keeps source writing and generated versions in the same workspace. Writers can move between platforms without losing the original thought or opening another tool.

01Write or paste

Begin with one raw draft in the source panel.

02Choose platforms

Select only the destinations needed for this idea.

03Generate versions

Create platform-aware drafts in one action.

04Edit and copy

Refine each result in place before publishing.

04Design & Build

From concept to product

The interface follows the writer’s mental model: source beside output.

The two-column workspace makes the relationship between the original idea and each adapted version visible. Platform tabs reduce context switching, inline editing prevents another copy-paste loop, and clear generation limits make the cost of AI actions understandable.

The product supports English outputs across X, Substack, Medium, and LinkedIn, with Chinese output for Xiaohongshu. It also includes a local API mode for people who prefer to use their own provider credentials.

One source of truth

The raw draft stays visible while every platform version is created and refined.

Platform-aware structure

Outputs adapt beyond word count to the reading pattern and tone of each channel.

Human review by default

Nothing publishes automatically. Every generated result remains editable.

Transparent access

Free daily generations support quick trials; open-source and own-API options support deeper use.

05Launch & Learning

Version 1

Ship the smallest useful loop, then learn in public.

The first public release focused on the complete core workflow: one source draft, multiple platform-specific versions, editable output, and one-click copying. Every account includes free daily generations, making the value understandable before asking for commitment.

Publishing the code openly created another feedback path through bug reports, feature suggestions, and pull requests. The next areas of work are better context awareness, more customization, improved generation quality, and smarter workflows.

06Reflection

What I learned

A useful AI product removes repetition without removing judgment.

The product became clearer when automation stopped being the goal. Writers do not need another system that takes over their voice or publishing decisions. They need a faster starting point, visible control, and a clean path to make every version their own.
